I - 9, Employment Verifications
What is an I-9 in Texas?
Employers seeking employment verification services can request one of our agents to be an independent authorized employer representative. The I-9 form is issued by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and it verifies the identity and employment eligibility for persons hired in the U.S. I-9 Verification is a NON-Notarial contracted service, and is not subject to state/statutory fees.
On the form, an employee must attest to their employment authorization. The employee must also present their employer with acceptable documents as evidence of identity and employment authorization. The employer must examine these documents to determine whether they reasonably appear to be genuine and relate to the employee, then record the document information on the employee’s Form I-9. Certain employers who choose to remotely examine the employee’s documentation under a DHS-authorized alternative procedure rather than via physical examination must indicate they did so by checking the box provided.(See links below for instructions and forms if needed.)
The agent will meet the employee at a location of the employee’s choosing.
Section One will be filled out by the employee, or employer, prior to the appointment. It will be reviewed by the notary for completeness.
The agent will examine the provided physical identification documents.
Section Two will be filled out and completed by the agent.
If the employee needed assistance (or a translator) in order to fill out Section One, Supplement A must be filled out by the individual who assisted. It may otherwise remain blank.
Supplement B may also remain blank, unless the employee is a rehire and requires reverification.
The completed document will be returned to the employee for processing, unless the agent is instructed otherwise. (Additional charges may occur for additional instructions, or for the requirement of Online Technology.)
